Missouri health care officials are waiting for the federal government to start the second phase of small pox vaccinations.
Currently no one in Missouri is receiving small pox vaccinations. Lynelle Phillips, public health adviser for the Center for Disease Control, says that the first phase of small pox vaccinations has been given.
In the spring, Missouri gave out 1,253 vaccinations.
Mary Martin, public health manager of Columbia and Boone County, says that they vaccinated 300 people. In fact, Boone County alone has given three times more small pox vaccinations than the state of Illinois.
Health care officials don't know when the second phase of small pox vaccines might start.
